Kandy is considered to be a cultural capital of Sri Lanka. The main religious monuments are located here. It took us half a day to visit all the main places. Kandy Lake:

Royal Botanical Gardens is the best place in my opinion. It's a great place to spend the day away from the loud streets:
It took us 2 hours to get to Dambulla using airconditioned bus this time and we still had enough time to visit Dambulla cave temple that contains 153 Buddha statues and numerous paintings.
